With all the advances in education and teaching methods over the last hundred years, are there really any good reasons why children should not be sent to school but be taught at home? Are there any Home Schooling advantages? After all home schooling is as old as mankind – till a few hundred years ago most children never went to school and learned everything they needed from their parent at home. Is there a sound reason why some parents should choose the turn their backs on the modern system of education and stick with something that has been around for thousands of years? The answer is first that parent who choose home school for their children are not turning their backs on modern education, they are simply choosing to impart it in their own way and secondly, that home schooling today has little relation with the informal home education given in the past.

Even the best of teachers are limited by the size of the classes they teach. They have to work to the average requirements of the children and do not have the time to focus on the special needs of each child. Parents understand their children and their special requirements and so are able to tailor the teaching they do so to the child is able to perform to his or her best.

School curricula does offer choices in the subjects student takes but these are limited and based on popular demand. One of the many Home School Advantages is that parents can focus on the specific talents of their children and provide them education to develop their special skills, some thing that a school cannot do for one or two children. Additionally, there are important life skills that are best taught by active participation, such as shopping for healthy foods or home repair that schools cannot provide but which can be learned home.

Much of the time spent in school is not on learning, but in waiting. Children sit in the bus, sometimes for hours to get to and from school. In school itself they wait for a teacher to finish a subject they have already completed, wait for other students to finish their work, wait for lunch and wait in lines for just about everything. Among the other home school advantages is the fact that children educated at home do not have to waste time in this manner and even while working at their own pace, can finish a day’s worth of study in about half the time it takes in a normal school environment. This gives them time to other things that may not be part of a school curriculum but are still import for their futures.

Many people regard the extended time a family spends together as the most important of all Home Schooling Advantages. The more time a family spends together, the strong are the bonds that develop. These bonds and the greater influence that the parents exert make it easier for the children to absorb the values the parent hold important and reduces the chance of negative peer pressure having a harmful influence on them.

Formal school education for all children is a concept that is only about three hundred years old. It was introduced in Germany at the end of the 17th century. Prior to that, all education was given in the home or in informal village groups. Very few children went to a regular school, and those that did were the children of the nobility and the upper classes. In fact, home school history began around with the beginning of mankind. The first cave dweller who taught his children how to hunt was home schooling them. Even today, those children who go to regular schools have also been homed schooled, or else how would they know how to behave in public. The social conditioning that parents give to their children is home schooling.

Education in America, from the time of the first settlers, consisted of learning to do chores in the house or in the fields with perhaps some hunting thrown in. The few parents who could themselves read and write passed on this knowledge to their children as a bonus.

As time passed and America moved from being an agrarian economy to a trading and them manufacturing one, the need for basic reading, writing and mathematical skills grew. Those parents who had these skills gave priority to passing them on to their children. Those who did not tried to find the resources to pay for a teacher to come and teach their children, either alone or in cooperation with other families. One benefactor of the system was Abraham Lincoln who received 18 months of such education. As population centers grew in size and number, the setting up of formal schools became both a social necessity and a profitable business option.

For those who could not send their children to school, the first proper Home School option made its appearance in 1906 when the Calvert Day School of Baltimore made an all-in-one curriculum (curriculum in a box) available at book shops. In a few years 300 children were using this and the number kept steadily growing.

The government made public school attendance mandatory but and by the end of World War 1, nearly all children were attending formal schools. However, by the middle of the 20th century, there was growing dissatisfaction with both the way education was imparted and its standards and by the 1970 a strong home school movement began to appear and by the 1980s, homes schooling had become legal in about half the states.

One key factor in History of Home Schooling that has brought it to a place where it is a legitimate and acceptable option for parents to consider is the involvement and support of expert professional like Dr. Raymond Moore, known as the “father of modern home schooling.” He and experts in the field of education conducted studies that proved that regimented institutional type of study was not always the best option and that personal care and attention from parents who were involved in teaching their children could more than compensate for the drawbacks of a child not attending a regular school.

Home School History has come in a full circle from the time it was the norm in the 13 colonies, through the time when government mandated school education left parents with no choice, to today when home schooling is legal in all fifty states.

It is always an infuriating experience whenever a seasoned veteran like you gets held up in promotion while inexperienced juniors rise up the ranks past you just because they got their diploma from some prestigious university. After they graduate, they get the benefits while you are stuck in your cubicle. That surely is not fair and a detriment to a professional career.

Without a college education, there will come a time when you will reach a dead-end in your career path. However, going back to college presents too many hassles, especially if you are already very busy working full-time. You can take evening classes, but that will greatly reduce the amount of time you can spend with your family and you will end up deadbeat at the end of every single day. Furthermore, getting a college degree these days is very expensive.

Interestingly, a lot of adults are genuinely interested in going back to college but they are usually held back by dozens of logistical and financial obstacles. With the advent of the Internet, more adults can now get a college diploma without having to commute to the university. You can keep your job and spend time with your family while gradually working towards the degree of your choice.

There are several different ways of getting a degree online, and these can be classified into four main groups.

Payment-based degrees

Many unscrupulous online businessmen take advantage of people’s desire to get an accelerated college degree online by offering diplomas without really paying much attention to your progress with the course lessons. As long as you pay for the tuition, they are willing to grant you your degree. Although many people do use these services to get an instant degree, they may get into trouble if a potential employer finds out.

Non-residency degrees

In traditional schools, you will typically be required to have completed a specific number of units in their institution before being able to graduate. With most online universities however, you can get credit from units that you have previously earned in other online schools or even from way back when you were still attending college. You will also be allowed to get extra credit if you have gone through military school or if you are able to pass specialized tests. You can further speed up the accomplishment of your course by showing a proficiency in relevant college courses. If you pass all these tests and submit all the necessary requirements, you can actually finish your degree in just a few months. Online companies who have these kinds of offers are not illegal, but many people doubt their efficiency as actual educational institutions.

Accelerated college degrees

These are the most popular types of online degrees these days. These institutions offer popular college 4-years courses that you can finish in just 2 years. This is done by reporting all of your previously earned units from your college years, as well as any that you may have acquired from other legitimate online schools. The annual cost is approximately the same as for traditional colleges, but since you can finish these accelerated degrees in just 2 years, you can save as much as 50%.

Work at your own pace

For busy people who are working full-time jobs, it is advisable to enroll with a program that allows you to finish your lessons at a pace that is most comfortable for you. You can take as long as you like or if you are in a hurry, you can arrange your schedule so that you will finish the course in about a year or so.

From the above discussion, it is quite clear that you can have various methods by which you can get college education. After you have decided that you want to continue your educational life, just make sure that you always choose a legal path.

Iep Help For Your Autistic Special Education Child

Individuals with Asperger and Autism, or AS, are at the high functioning end of the autism spectrum. Patients with this disorder show impairment in social behavior and motor skills and are also marked by clumsiness. Because it can resemble other forms of autism, it can sometimes be misdiagnosed. While the treatments can be similar, it is important to get a correct diagnosis as there are certain individual treatments that are added for individual patients. Find a Asperger Syndrome Advocate to help you.

Hans Asperger, an Austrian pediatrician, was the first to pinpoint the disorder in 1944, when he described his patients as failing to demonstrate empathy, as well as lacking nonverbal communication skills. It wasn’t until 50 years later that this syndrome was finally recognized and classified as an actual disorder. Today, there are still many questions about the autistic disorder-like impairment. There has long been doubt about the differences in high functioning autistic individuals and those that have AS.

Many physicians use individual treatment plans, depending on the age of the individual, to help manage the lives of those who have Asperger syndrome. The plans vary depending on the development and functioning of the person and can be changed as the person progresses in development. Treatments for AS are very similar to those used to treat highly functioning patients with autism.

Information About Education And School Ranking

Our children’s education is one thing we have to pay attention to as parents. Public schools are not all the same. Just like private schools, there are many factors to consider. The site of a school often has a consequence on its national school ranking. That is why we hear so many complaints about inner-city schools. When you start getting into large metropolitan areas such as Las Vegas, Chicago and Miami, you’re going to encounter more gangs and violence. This can often deter qualified teachers from seeking employment in these regions. Also, if the regions are dangerous and undesirable to reside in, it may affect the school’s yearly funds. Know where your school stands.

Ever since I decided to have kids, public school ranking is an important factor in my life. What I want first and foremost is a secure area for my child to grow up and a fine school that will provide a great education. Most parents think the same way, I would assume. Fortunately for us, all of this valuable information is at our fingertips. Our national public school systems are ranked every year. Factors that play a part are; where the school is situated, how wealthy the town/city is, the crime rate, how many students attend the school, the state’s budget toward education. I believe schoolranking can be useful.

Though it may sound a bit clich?, but the more funds, the better. Proper funding provides the public school systems with an ample staff of teachers, proper equipment and maintenance, and don’t forget about computers and field trip funds. Which translates in better schoolranking. But this do not mean the parents who have children in the school need to be rich or wealthy. It also depends on the way the community funds are distributed.
