As increasingly more women are attending classroom-based and online universities, many organizations and institutions have launched educational grants for woman to help them reach their educational goals. It will help to provide scholarships and funds for women and single mothers. Women will also be available to receive financial aid or scholarships through private organization funds.

A recent study from Northeastern University’s Center for Labor Market Studies suggests more women than men are enrolling in two- and four-year degree programs. Researchers found that females who graduated from high school in 2007 were 1.5 times more likely to attend a community college than their male counterparts and nearly two times more likely to pursue a bachelors degree. Across the country, colleges and universities are working with special interest groups to provide more financial aid programs and opportunities to award worthy students. These reports have shown that women attempting to get the education they desire in their chosen career path are being recognized for their efforts with these scholarship opportunities. An application process for two scholarships has been opened by the Jackson, Michigan, branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW)

Female students who have completed at least two years of college-level study are eligible to apply for the scholarships and grants. Applicants must be pursuing a four-year degree and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. To apply, qualified individuals can send two letters of recommendation from faculty members at their school or employers. The letters should address the candidate’s academic achievement and character.

Women everywhere are being encouraged to apply for these grants, financial aid and scholarship opportunities, regardless of their income. The idea is that women know that they can still receive a quality education and graduate with the knowledge and experience they need to enter the workplace with confidence.

Jackson’s is one of many branches of the organization that are participating in the State Local Scholarship Clearinghouse Pilot Program, which was launched in August, according to the organization’s website. While each branch determines the amount of their awards and their eligibility criteria, eligible students may check the availability of awards in their area and apply using a standard application, which is posted on the AAUW site.

Colleges like the University of Texas at Austin, have created programs that are intended to help women who are furthering their education. These schools recognize the need for financial aid, scholarships and grants for women, and are creating funds specifically to award them to women acheving success in their student life.
Many grants for single moms are benefiting for them to finish their degree, as well. The grants for college being developed is providing workshops, private tutors and mentors, and community service efforts for female minority students in fields where women often do not have established careers. Campus-based and online universities understand the need these women have, and are providing similar college grants opportunities to allow them to pay for their tuition and receive a well rounded and specialized education, working toward their degree while fulfilling personal and work obligations and responsibilities.
